22. Dolma Aunty Momos, Lajpat Nagar
Rumour has it that close to 20 years back, Delhiites had dismissed momos as a street snack. The steamed snack was misunderstood for being under-cooked as opposed to other fried desi snacks. Dolma Tsering is the name of the woman who stood her ground in 1994 to introduce the Tibetan dumplings to the Indian street food palate. She launched her stall in Lajpat Nagar and till date serves at the same spot. Prior to this, the popular snack was only available in fine-dining pan-Asian restaurants. Gradually, word-of-mouth led to an increase in the customers and people opened up to the idea of consuming momos. Today, you can enjoy a plate of eight momos for Rs 60 at the stall. The spicy red chili-garlic chutney served on the side deserves as much attention as the momos.
